Two Seasons Past

It's been a long time since I started my volleyball blog. Since then, we've done the following the last two seasons:

Spring 2006
20 wins, 10 losses (.667 avg) - made it to the playoffs!

Summer 2006
16 wins, 8 losses (.667 avg) - made it to the playoffs! (won 1 game against a team that had lost only 2 games all season).

I'm sitting out this next Fall 2006 season. I really need to focus on my studies. Also, I'm singing in the chorus, which requires me to practice. So, it's best for me to take some time off and focus on music and studies.

First Match

We won 2 out of 3 games in our first match of the season last Thursday. The team is off to a good start. Our opponents played well, beating us in the first game. However, we were able to pull together as a team during the last two games.

We have 4 new players this season: Ken, Luise, Maggie, and Tracy. I expect it to take few games for us to gel. It's always hard starting out as a team, however, I'm confident that we have the skills and experience to perform well this season.

Spring 2006 - A New Season

Okay, I'm going to try something new -- blogging about my volleyball team. This is the fourth season of the Snapping Turtles volleyball team. Our past records have been:

SPRING 2005: 12 W - 18 L (.400)

FALL 2005: 17 W - 13 L (.567)

WINTER 2006: 18 W - 12 L (.600)

Looking over our past record as a team, we've been steadily improving. We made the playoffs last season, and I'm hoping we get in a position to make the playoffs this season.

We have several new players and I would say that our chances are pretty good so long as we keep focused on our goals.

I used to send out e-mail messages with notes to the entire team in the past. However, this time I'm going to try to record my thoughts in a weblog so we can review our progress as the season progresses. I'm hoping also to provide resources to my team on learning more about the game and finding places to play and build their skills.

First link of the season -- professional beach volleyball in Brooklyn!

So time for us to put it on our schedule and buy some tickets!

By the way, women's beach pro Holly McPeak went to my alma-mater!
... and so did Jason Kidd (but *he* doesn't play volleyball).
